Summary

Amends the:

Customs Act 1901
to: place obligations on cargo terminal operators and handlers that load and unload cargo; create new offences for using information from the Integrated Cargo System to aid a criminal organisation; enable the Chief Executive Officer of the Customs and Border Protection Service to consider the refusal, suspension or cancellation of aviation and maritime security identification cards; align aspects of the customs broker licensing scheme with that of depots and warehouses; and adjust controls and sanctions;
AusCheck Act 2007
to enable the secretary to suspend, or suspend processing of an application for, an aviation or maritime security identification card; and
Law Enforcement Integrity Commissioner Act 2006
to provide that the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Deputy President and Chair of Committees of the Senate are eligible for appointment to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on the Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity.
